Releasing a Tongue Tied Big Kid – Day 5

January 28, 2016 Kristyn

Today was a busy day for me, I spent half the day with Jessica Altemara, IBCLC at the South Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition Quarterly Meeting where she gave an awesome presentation about managing low milk supply. Because of that, we did our morning stretch routine and he was on his own for sweeps for the entire day, timing them, doing them, everything.

But I am thrilled to report his site looks GREAT! And we skipped an overnight sweep due to timing of when the baby woke up. (Which reminds me, I didn’t wake him up yet for a sweep. Oops. I guess we’ll see how that works out for us tomorrow.) I have been continuing to give him the Tongue Tie Tincture from Kim to help reduce the inflammation and I have a couple good leads on bodywork for him. He’ll probably heal before that happens, but that’s probably for the best. I’m not sure he’d want a mouth massage with an open wound still in there. There was definitely less flinching today while stretching too.

Day 5, morning, pre stretch. Not nearly as much involution as before!

Day 5, morning, post stretch. Not as dramatic as before. This is a good sign.

Day 5, evening. It looked so good I didn't even bother with an after picture, it looked the same. The white nub in the middle is a normal part of the scabbing/healing process and should slough off in the next few days as he continues to heal.
